Description: Michael the Brave is considered one of Romania's greatest national heroes. Michael the Brave is regarded by Romanian nationalists as a symbol of Romanian unity. He was the first political and military leader who managed to unite the three Romanian states: Moldavia Muntenia and Transilvania in 1600. Although the Union lasted only for one year as he died in 1601 he is considered a national hero for his military victories against Turks, Hungarians and Polish.
