George Papazoglou or Papazolis was a Greek captain of the Russian Imperial Guard. He was born in Siatista, Macedonia in 1725 and emigrated to Russia, where he enlisted in the army. As agent of Tsarina Aikaterini was sent to the Peloponnese to propagate the revolution against the Turks. At Benaki's tower in Kalamata, he managed to introduce all the protagonists to the idea of the revolution and signed a minutes, which Papazoglou took with him to Russia. Papazoglou returned to the Peloponnese with Orloff and took part in the Revolution of 1769 - 1770. After its failure he did not return to Russia. He died of grief in Paros.
