Description: Gheorghe Sincai was an historian, philosopher, philologist and translator and a representative of the Enlightenment – influenced Transylvanian School. He was the director of greek-catholic education in Transylvania and author of some fundamental school books of language and literature, arithmetics and catechism. Together with Samuil Micu he wrote the first Romanian Grammar. As a teacher he contributed to the establishing of more than 300 greek-catholic schools. As he was speaking 6 foreign languages he spent many years researching different libraries in other countries to identify the most important moments of the Romanian history.
