He was a teacher and a priest and one of the first Romanian fiction writers. As a fiction writer he wrote Amintiri din copilarie (Childhood memories) which is a masterpiece of the Romanian literature. He was best friend with Romania’ s National poet Mihai Eminescu who encouraged and supported him to write his funny stories about his childhood. He wrote for a large number of papers and magazines and an active member of literary societies.
