Description: Victor Babes was a Romanian bacteriologist founder of the Romanian microbiology school. Although he had a deep interest in music he decided to study medicine in Budapest and Wien and became a PhD. He is now considered to be one of the modern microbiology founders as his studies about rabies, diphteria, tuberculosis and leprosy led to major progress in terms of healing. He designed an anti-rabies vaccine program implemented for the first time in Romania. The oldest scientific institute in Romania was named after him.
