Description:
Captain Kromba Street is one of the largest streets in MessinĪ¹. The street was named in memory of the Macedonian warrior Marinos Lymperopoulos or Captain Krombas, who was born in 1875 at Aristodimeio, in Ithomi, Messini.
In September 1905 he was located in Macedonia and specifically in Florina. Until then, that area was full of Bulgarian commitioners and within a month he managed to free the area. His action reached the area of Monastery.
Captain Krombas fell dead along with his lads, on November 7, 1905, after an unequal battle with the Turks in the village of Petalino.
To honor the hero, apart from MessinĪ¹, the cities of Florina and Kalamata named one of their main streets after him.
