Description: Mitros Petrovas or Mitropetrovas was a captain during the Greek War of Independence against the Othoman Empire. Friend, tutor and teacher on the martial arts for the National Greek Hero Theodoros Kolokotronis. Mitropetrovas was brave and wise, therefore he was called “Nestor” of the Revolution, as the wise old king of Pylos at Homer’s Iliada. When Greece was liberated, together with Kolokotronis supported the Greek Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias. When the Bavarians reigned Greece, Mitropetrovas rebelled against them, but the foreign governors arrested him and put him in prison for 15 years due to his age and his contribution to the fight. The Bavarian king of Greece, Otto, set him free with grace. Mitrometrovas passed away at an old age.
