Juan Alfonso and Pedro Alfonso de Carvaja were knights of the Orden of Calatrava and servants of Fernando IV de Castilla. They were sentenced to death in 1312 for their king and thrown from the top of the Peña de Martos.
The death was due to the fact that they were guilty of the murder of Juan de Benavides. In August 1312, while the king was in Martos sentenced both brothers to death. They were condemned to be thrown from the Peña into an iron cage with spikes.
The brothers before being thrown, said to the king that in less than 30 days he would be dead owing to an unfair execution. Finally, the king died in Septembre, exactly one month later.
