Saint Dimitrios: 280 – 306 p. C.: Saint of the Orthodox and the Catholic Church. His memory is celebrated on October 26th. He lived and became a martyr in Thessaloniki, also known as the protector of the city. As a young man he became an officer of the Roman Army. He became a Christian, he took part in the Christian meetings and helped the poor. The idolaters/pagans arrested and imprisoned him. From prison he encouraged his friend and student Nestor, who beat wrestler Lieus. Nestor was killed because of this. Dimitrios, was also killed as Nestror’s teacher, and because he didn’t deny his faith in Christ. Dimitrios was buried in the place where he became a martyr. Then at this place a church was built. From his grave fragrance was spouted forth, so Dimitrios was called “Mirovlitis”.
