Theodoros Kolokotronis: He was born in Messinia, but his origins were in Arcadia. He got married young and later served the English army in Zakynthos. At 23/3/1821 he was one of the warriors who seizured Kalamata, at the beginning of the Greek Revolution against the Turks. He was the first warrior at many operations against the Ottoman Empire in the Peloponnese: Valtetsi, Tripoli, Dervenakia, so he became the first general at the Peloponnese and a hero of the Greek Revolution against the Ottoman conquerors. During his lifetime he was imprisoned at Nafplio two times, in the civil war and by the vice – royalty. The second time he was sentenced to death, but Otto, as an adult king of Greece, released him. He became a general at the new Greek state. He was Otto΄s aid – de – camp and Commander of the Guards School. He died in 1843 and was honored as a hero at his funeral.
