Description: Dimitrios Koutsikas (1898-1989) was a Greek doctor and politician from Messinia. He was born in the province of Kalamon (in Platy) in 1898. He served as a Member of Parliament for Messinia from 1946 to 1950 and as Mayor of Messina from 1959 to 1967 and from 1975 to 1982. As mayor, Koutsikas contributed, among other things, to building a network for rainwater and in the execution of road construction and sewerage projects. He died in January 1989 and was buried in the church of Agios Dimitrios in Messina on January 20. His name was given to a street in Messini.
