Description: Evangelos A. Moutsopoulos was born in Athens in 1930 and died on June 21, 2021. He was a professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Athens, where he was elected rector in 1977. He has been a member of the Academy of Athens since 1984 and a visiting professor at numerous foreign universities and internationally renowned research centers and Honorary or Corresponding Member of many Greek and international foreign academies and Philosophical Societies. When the municipality of Messini, in order to honor Evangelos Moutsopoulos proposed to name a street after him, he asked that the street be named after his father, Anastasios Moutsopoulos, because his father, who was born in Messini, had made him love Messini. He asked jokingly, to be a small alley so as not to risk changing the name in the future.
