Panagiotis Gargalidis was born in MessinĪ¹ in 1870.
In 1896 he was admitted to the non-commissioned officer school, and fought in the "Unfortunate" war of 1897. In 1899 he graduated as an infantry lieutenant.
During the Balkan Wars he was distinguished for his ability to command units during battle.
In World War I, he was honored with the French War Cross and the highest French Order of the Legion of Honor, because during the Allied attack of September 1918, he split the entire German-Bulgarian front, occupying the Preslap massif.
In 1919 he distinguished himself in the rescue of the allied guard Hersonissos, in the Crimean campaign.
In 1920 he participated in the Asia Minor campaign and was promoted to lieutenant general. With the collapse of the front, he joined the 1922 revolution, and was promoted to Major General.
He organized the failed Revolutionary Movement of October 22, 1923 together with George Leonardopoulos. He died in Kalamata in 1942.
